Learning Community Progressive Education VISTA

The Learning Community is a vibrant public school serving Central Falls, Providence and Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The Progressive Education VISTA will be partnering with the Teaching Studio, the professional development consulting group of The Learning Community to support the planning and opening of the Rhode Island School for Progressive Education (RISPE). The ultimate goal of RISPE is to close the educational equity gap in urban public schools that primarily serve low-income students. RISPE will seek to recruit candidates that reflect the diversity of Rhode Island’s urban districts and will support those candidates in becoming highly effective, culturally responsive, and social-justice minded educators. The Teaching Studio is one of very few professional development organizations based in a practicing, successful, urban school. With a deep belief in the importance of our nation’s public school system, we are committed to working collaboratively with other public schools to improve student achievement and expand opportunities for low-income students. The Learning Community was founded to serve its students and families and to function as a center for research and development to improve public education. The Teaching Studio is the realization of this goal. To learn more about The Learning Community please visit http://thelearningcommunity.com/site/
