The Housing Authority of Mingo County will utilize the VISTA member to assist with the improvements to housing and economic development through research and applying for grant opportunities. These opportunities will allow new job creation within the southern coal fields, which has declined in the past few years. In addition, the VISTA member will help develop and coordinate a summer food program that will provide food to children that are under the age of 18 years old. This will be a service to the communities that benefit from this program.
