Strong City/Arts on the Block: College, Work, Career VISTA
 
 
 
This position is sponsored by Strong City Baltimore in Baltimore, MD; and the VISTA member will serve with Arts on the Block in Kensington, MD. Strong City sponsors 20 VISTA projects at nonprofit, government, and community organizations throughout Baltimore City and Maryland. Established in 1969 to help neighborhoods become safer, better places to live, Strong City's mission is to build and strengthen neighborhoods and people. Strong City will provide support to Arts on the Block and the VISTA member throughout the year, including recruitment, training, resources, and professional development opportunities, and meetings.

Member Duties : The VISTA Member at Arts on the Block will build the capacity of the College-Work Career (CWC) Project, which will provide comprehensive and effective college, job-readiness, and career-related services for youth and young adult program participants (ages 11 through 21) as they transition from middle school to high school, and from high school to college and/or the workforce. The VISTA will draft and then implement a 2018-2019 CWC plan that will have a positive effect on the maximum amount of AOB participants through assessment and familiarization with partners, participants, past CWC practices, and out-of-school time trainings. VISTA will document progression and successes throughout the year, assessment tools and gather results of pre-, mid-, and post-program from participants, and report on mid and end-of-year data collected for revisions and refining of the CWC project.
