This position is sponsored by Strong City Baltimore in Baltimore, MD; and the VISTA member will serve with Archbishop Borders School in Baltimore, MD. Archbishop Borders School is a dual-language Catholic community school that prepares its students to be dynamic members of society through an educational experience informed by diversity, faith and academic excellence. Strong City sponsors 20 VISTA projects at nonprofit, government, and community organizations throughout Baltimore City and Maryland. Established in 1969 to help neighborhoods become safer, better places to live, Strong City's mission is to build and strengthen neighborhoods and people. Strong City will provide support to Archbishop Borders School and the VISTA member throughout the year, including recruitment, training, resources, and professional development opportunities, and meetings.

Member Duties : The Community Outreach Liaison VISTA will build the capacity of Archbishop Borders School (ABS) by developing curricula and a train-the-trainer model of workshops/classes for school families in Southeast Baltimore to navigate an English-speaking community. The VISTA resource will ensure implementation of restorative practices in the classroom to foster better relationships among teachers, staff and students. The families will then be able to find better jobs and opportunities; navigate the educational system to better promote their children's successes; see improved relationships among their children and school staff. VISTA efforts will empower families to learn career development; English language development, and navigation of PreK to college educational systems. VISTA should have experience with a Spanish-speaking communities VISTA should be proficient with technology (Google Suite), multimedia, etc.
