VISTA Workforce Development Project Manager @ Sharing Life
 
 
 
Sharing Life began as a food pantry 20 years ago and has become much more, a virtual one-stop resource for low-income families and individuals seeking food, clothing, utility and rent assistance, access to public benefits, and employment training and services. Sharing Life has been in partnership with El Centro Community College for several years. They have offered CNA, Phlebotomy, and Clinical Healthcare Worker courses in our building for members of our community seeking entry-level healthcare training. Sharing Life offers financial education and financial coaching, as well as, income supports for the students enrolled in those healthcare classes. In conjunction with our local IRS SPEC tax consultant, two years ago we also created a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) center in our location. We want to empower our community with financial knowledge, confidence, and hope to reach for and attain a better future for themselves and their children.

Member Duties : This member will continue a project that was initiated two years ago, tracking the employment and job retention of our healthcare students, as well as, continue working with our team to expand the workforce development courses and employment services to all participants in our Working Families Success program. Working with local business, partners, and Workforce Solutions, the member will also engage employers to provide living-wage employment to our participants.
