SOS Health Services of Walla Walla Clinic Coordinator

The Blue Mountain Action Council AmeriCorps Team is seeking individuals that are highly motivated and willing to commit to a 10.5 month, 40+ hours per week term of National Service. Our members strive to meet the needs of low income individuals by expanding services provided to children and adults in our community, while serving as a team to engage the community and provide support to a wide range of schools and nonprofits through volunteerism, health education and engaging U.S. veterans in community service throughout Walla Walla, Washington. Our 8 member team meets regularly for professional and personal development and training, as well as team-led service projects. We believe in providing a meaningful experience to all of our AmeriCorps members, while creating positive change in our community. We ensure that our members will have opportunities to collaborate with each other in order to expand the services and opportunities at their sites, as well as additional service opportunities in various schools and nonprofits. SOS Health Services of Walla Walla is a local nonprofit that serves Walla Walla Valley residents without health insurance. They do not ask for income or insurance verification and serve people from birth to death, of any race, creed, culture, or age. In addition to basic medical care, SOS also offers specialty services in women’s health, mental health, dermatology, and chronic care. Bilingual translators for Spanish and English patients are available for every session and the clinic staff are all volunteers—from customer service to board of directors. They are privileged to have twelve volunteer physicians and students who help them throughout the month—ranging from basic urgent medical care and specialty care to patient education and data entry. AmeriCorps members do not provide health services related to prohibited items. Note: This position is contingent on funding.
