* Campus Compact - USM Lewiston-Auburn College

Maine Campus Compact (MCC) is a statewide coalition of colleges and universities whose purpose is to further the public purposes and civic mission of higher education. MCC’s team of 10 VISTAs will develop programming that mobilizes college students to increase college aspirations in Maine’s K-12 youth with an emphasis on low-income students. The VISTA for Access and Service-Learning at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston Auburn College will provide essential support to two important college, and university priorities: 1. college access and success for adult, veteran, new Mainer, and economically disadvantaged populations, and 2. Enhancing student engagement and retention through increased number and quality of Service-Learning experiences for students enrolled in LAC degree programs and/or taking courses on the LAC campus. The VISTA member will collaborate closely with the admissions team and with Service-Learning support staff, faculty, students, and community partners to ensure success in both focus areas. The VISTA position is located on USM’s Lewiston Auburn Campus.

Member Duties : * Become familiar with LAC Community Engagement and LAC admissions and recruitment activities. * Work with interested faculty to increase planned Service-Learning courses for spring 2019 or fall 2020 (ideally by 2 courses) and to improve partner and student experiences in at least 2 existing courses. * In collaboration with Admissions staff, increase outreach, communications, and applications in at least two of the 3 target populations
