Mentor Volunteer Coordinator - Abundant Life
 
 
 
Serve as a VISTA Member with MENTOR Virginia (MVA)! MVA is a Richmond-based, statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports mentoring programs around Virginia with a focus on the expansion of research based, high-quality mentoring in Virginia. Our vision is that every child who needs a mentor has a mentor. VISTA Members will help further our mission is to provide training and technical assistance to mentors and mentoring programs and increase the quality and quantity of mentoring for Virginia's youth. As a MVA VISTA member, you will join our team of full-time VISTA Members serving throughout Virginia. MVA works with VISTA Members directly throughout their year of service by assisting with VISTA Member screening and placement at host organizations, and providing training and ongoing support. Our VISTA Members serve with partner organizations to support each organization's internal capacity focusing on: Program Development, Volunteer Recruitment, Mentor/Mentee Training, Match Support, and Resource Development. During your year of service, you will be serving with Abundant Life Ministries in Charlottesville, VA to support the development of mentoring programs at that organization

Member Duties : Help build an equitable community through youth mentorship in Charlottesville, VA. The VISTA Member will build upon the foundation of policies and procedures for comprehensive volunteer organization, communication, and outreach through research based best practices in mentoring programs. They will expand the program from Middle School to High School age youth. They will finalize the development of a volunteer management system to increase the quality and quantity of academic mentors.Create physical and virtual marketing materials to bolster volunteer recruitment. Establish avenues of outreach using local and social media to build community partnerships for sustainable volunteer sources. Speak to community members and organizations in order to recruit mentors and create sustainable volunteer pools. Build a sustainable middle school mentoring program by aligning the program with research based best practices. Create standardized evaluation and feedback systems for participants.
