Girl Scouts of SE Michigan - Pathways to Employment

More than 63% of families in Flint are struggling to make ends meet, a statistic that can make it difficult for children in these families to find safe, educational, and supportive environments that many cost-prohibitive programs provide. As our VISTA with Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM), you’ll help to create a girl-only, girl-led space that provides an opportunity for growth and exploration to K-12 students. You’ll assist in the development of Life Skills and STEM programming, design and facilitate community service opportunities, and recruit and train volunteers to support the organization. By fostering a love of education and helping students develop the leadership and problem solving skills they need to be successful academically and professionally, you’ll encourage girls in Flint to finish high school and seek post-secondary education options. As Genesee County is rated as one of the state’s five most needy counties for young children eligible for SNAP, this work is vital to ensuring that these students have the resources necessary to create financial secure and prosperous futures.
