VISTA Chester County Healthy Food Access Coordinator
 
 
 
The Catawba Farm and Food Coalition (CFFC) is a non-profit organization devoted to supporting the local food system of a 5 county region in South Carolina. One focus area of the coalition is access to healthy food. Having access to locally produced, healthy food not only improves public health, but stimulates the local economy. This position will be located in Chester, SC, the center of South Carolina’s Catawba Region. Enjoy living in Chester, South Carolina, a quiet, historic small town community with access to the major metro area amenities of Charlotte, NC (~30 minutes away). The VISTA volunteer will build capacity by creating an access to healthy foods community assessment, developing food-based community awareness and engagement programs, expanding partnerships, and creating sustainability through fundraising and the recruitment of new volunteers. The ideal candidate will have the: - ability to work well with others and within a team - passion for supporting a local food system - experience with public health and nutrition education are a plus - Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and basic web skills (social media, e-mail, etc.) desired VISTA volunteer will: - Learn about food system development from the grassroots level - Make a difference in the lives of participating farmers and residents - Gain skills in non-profit management and sustainability - Network with related organizations and gain new contacts for future growth - Be a part of a new local food movement!
