20-21 Clark Public Utilities District Restoration Specialist
Our project consists of six AmeriCorps members who will complete general project activities including: • Restoration activities such as native tree plantings, invasive plant surveys and removal, monitoring past and current restoration projects for water quality and plant survivability • Engage the community and recruit volunteers by attending outreach events such as fairs, festivals, farmer’s markets and local community events • Educate the community through student tours, presentations, workshops and trainings on topics such as watershed restoration, native an invasive plant identification, natural history and other topics • Support our native plant nursery through tree potting and other maintenance • Participate in planning and implementation of two large outreach events: Earth Day Fest and Home and Garden Idea Fair • Lead volunteers in all of the above activities throughout the year, with groups ranging from 5 to 400 volunteers per event Each member will also have their own area of emphasis throughout the term. A large portion of their time will be spent working independently within this area of emphasis.

Member Duties : The Restoration Specialist will assist assist environmental resources staff and other AmeriCorps members to contribute to the successful implementation of all aspects of the watershed enhancement program, including project preparation, logistics, implementation and maintenance. This position will involve executing day to day field operations. Seasonal needs and project priorities will dictate particular duties any given week. Providing technical assistance and direction for contract crews is an integral part of this position. The watershed restoration objectives this position will support include: site prep (invasive removal), planting, maintenance, native plant nursery support and tools/equipment management. Approximately 70 – 90% of time will be spent in the field. The remainder of the time will be spent supporting other program volunteer and outreach objectives. See for more details.
