NeighborWorks VISTA - CHWC - Volunteer Program Coordinator
 
 
 
Community Housing of Wyandotte County (CHWC, Inc.) is a comprehensive community development corporation whose mission is to stabilize, revitalize, and reinvest in Kansas City, Kansas through improved housing and related quality of life initiatives. We build and renovate beautiful, efficient, durable, healthy homes; promote sustainable homeownership through one on one coaching, classes, and financial assistance; and engage and strengthen neighborhoods through arts, green initiatives, and youth enterprise development. To this end, CHWC uses three strategies to accomplish our mission and vision: Affordable Housing, Homeownership and Financial Coaching, and Community Building & Engagement. These three initiatives work together to form healthy, resilient neighborhoods. CHWC will provide $500 per month housing allowance in one of CHWC's rental units. In the case that a CHWC unit is unavailable, CHWC will pay a cash housing stipend.

Member Duties : The Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for creating the CHWC Volunteer Program guidelines based on the existing framework and elements of our informal volunteer program. You will build and implement a volunteer and internship program that will help local youth and adults build job skills while delivering housing and financial literacy services. This includes managing volunteer resources to assist in the delivery of the organization’s programs and services by providing guidance, support resources and tools to staff who supervise volunteers and ongoing support of volunteers to ensure volunteers are prepared for their assignments and effectively utilized.
