Member Duties : Seeing the disparity of native people in the criminal justice system, the Tribal Defenders adopted a holistic defense model to address the issues that bring our clients into the system and the collateral consequences to criminal charges. As a result, we offer cultural mentoring, driver’s license restoration, civil assistance, a pro se clinic, community outreach, and reentry services. Our psychologists developed a Reentry Intake and Assessment Tool that will be validated for our native population this fall. No other tool is normed to a native population.
The VISTA will:
Assist us to set up a method to continue to collect data for the validation of the tool and to inform on best client services.
Assist us to analyze data in a way that informs our practice and translates to potential funders.
