Strong City/MPPI: Northstar Tutoring/Mentoring Project
 
 
 
This position is sponsored by Strong City Baltimore in Baltimore, MD; and the VISTA member will serve with Martin Pollak Project in Baltimore, MD. Strong City sponsors 30 VISTA projects at nonprofit, government, and community organizations throughout Baltimore City and Maryland. Established in 1969 to help neighborhoods become safer, better places to live, Strong City's mission is to build and strengthen neighborhoods and people. Strong City will provide support to Martin Pollak Project and the VISTA member throughout the year, including recruitment, training, resources, and professional development opportunities, and meetings.

Member Duties : The VISTA Member will build capacity by expanding and improving volunteer recruitment and management practices, developing and implementing an outreach plan to schools and community organizations along with maintaining a database for contacts and neighborhood partnerships, and identifying potential sources of financial support, to ensure NB’s continued success and growth. The VISTA will maintain core of volunteer tutor/mentors and develop the process to facilitate recruitment; establish database of community groups/organizations/schools/religious congregations to identify children and families who would benefit from a tutoring/mentoring relationship; and identify potential sources of financial support for NB, both organizational and individual, to ensure sustainability of Northstar Baltimore.
