Affordable Housing Associate, Rosewood (Portland, OR)

The Rosewood Initiative, located on the Portland side of the Portland and Gresham border, does place-based community development; we connect and empower Rosewood neighbors to build a safe and prosperous, vibrant and inclusive community. Our community is one of the most diverse in the state, and one of the most under resourced neighborhoods with the highest concentration of poverty. The VISTA member placed at our agency will assist in developing our Rosewood Homeownership Program, a program that will create a language and culturally specific program for sustainable wealth creation through homeownership. AmeriCorps VISTA members will perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of their time in an office setting. The Rosewood Initiative VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by researching and developing homeownership preparedness partners with agencies and lenders. The member will develop a database of opportunity sites for affordable homeownership preservation. The member will also develop the funding base for participants to access the program. Additionally, the member will recruit low-income participants by cultivating relationships through partner agencies including schools. As a VISTA at The Rosewood Initiative, you will be part of a cohort coordinated by Mercy Corps Northwest. Early applications strongly encouraged. Selections made on a rolling basis.
