The Alliance is a community-based organization devoted to serving refugees, immigrants and low-income populations in Houston. Alliance provides comprehensive services to assist clients in becoming economically self-sufficient and improve their quality of life. The Alliance also strives to ensure that newly-arrived Americans are integrated into the mainstream community and understand American culture and traditions. Originally founded by Association of Cambodian, Ethiopian, Laotian and Vietnamese refugee community organizations, The Alliance has expanded to serve individuals of all nationalities and backgrounds.

Member Duties : Would you like to gain valuable experience working alongside other professionals in an organization that collectively speaks 26 different languages? If so The Alliance is the place for you! As a Communications/Marketing VISTA you will gain valuable experience while developing your communication skills as you spread awareness of our mission and programs. The VISTA Member will work with The Alliance to bring attention to the unmet needs of Houston’s underserved population by promoting community engagement. The VISTA Member will increase community engagement by assisting the Community Relations Director with strengthening internal and external communications and community relations. The ways in which the VISTA will strengthen communications and community relations include participation in outreach fairs, drafting presentations and marketing material and developing newsletters.
