Assistant Coordinator for Opioid Policy and Research
Ohio is “ground zero” for the opioid epidemic. In the face of this crisis, The Ohio State University is marshaling resources across its full breadth to find solutions involving prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery. This position will help to coordinate both the University and Wexner Medical Center Opioid Task Forces, research and evaluation of ongoing efforts, and assist in the development of community partnerships, such as OSU’s extension and ADAMH county offices. This VISTA position will work with internal and external partners of The Ohio State University to strengthen county and community efforts to combat the opioid epidemic in Franklin County and beyond. The Ohio State University is the state’s land grant institution with a presence in all 88 counties, including our extension offices.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will work with organizational leadership to research and write educational materials and papers related to opioid addiction. The VISTA member will research and evaluate opioid innovation proposals for assessment and treatment of opioid addiction. The VISTA member will also work with community outreach partners to identify social determinants of health intervention that will be important for achieving our required objectives, based on current research and also will support interests of our opioid quality initiatives within our Upper Payment Limit program with the Ohio Department of Medicaid.
