Cornerstone- Volunteers of America- Resource Dev HOU
Volunteers of America (VOA) Texas is a faith based, non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals, families and communities reach their full spiritual, emotional and physical potential and wellbeing through a vast array of services that target the elderly, the intellectually disabled, those striving to overcome substance abuse, and those transitioning from correctional centers. With a history of nearly 100 years of service in the state, VOA Texas has a proven track record of compassionately serving, and meeting the needs of, some of Texas’ most vulnerable residents, including: at-risk youth; the elderly; individuals suffering from cognitive and developmental disabilities; individuals recovering from alcohol and substance abuse; former inmates; homeless men women and children; and veterans. In July 2013, VOA Texas launched a capital campaign to raise $3 million to fund 10 new houses, a playground, a child care center and community space where women and their children will live as they recover from the devastating impacts of addiction. Our Year 2 VISTA member has the opportunity to play a significant role in supporting this campaign and impacting the lives of those we serve. Serving with VOA Texas, VISTA members will enjoy the opportunity to promote the culture of service within our communities, our programs, our clients and staff. Working closely with clients, colleagues and community members, VISTA members will serve to develop and organize a volunteer leadership council; plan program tours; cultivate donors; support funding requests; develop strategic relationships; represent VOA in the community; and enhance the services provided to our clients. This is a great opportunity to embrace your passion for service while also gaining valuable experience within the non-profit community.
