2018 NWSHC Program and Development Specialist VISTA

The Northwest Side Housing Center was founded in 2003 and serves primarily Belmont Cragin and its surrounding communities. We engage, educate, and empower the community through housing counseling, financial education, pre-purchase counseling, rental counseling, as well as community organizing and advocacy. Our VISTA Member will build capacity in both the Development office primarily with marketing our programs and events and with our new rental program, Viviendo Unidos. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, team-playing perspective, and is willing to work hard toward a cause bigger then themselves. That cause relates to social and economic justice, specifically for the residents of Belmont Cragin. The ideal candidate will also have excellent writing skills, and experience with nonprofit or community programs; experience designing fliers or brochures or graphic design experience also a great plus

Member Duties : 1. As this is the third year of the project cycle, this VISTA will contribute an operating calendar for development projects and logic model for the landlord program so that these activities are sustained after the term is ended. 2. In collaboration with Director of Development, work to create and implement the organization’s marketing and fundraising campaigns. 3. In collaboration with the Director of Programs, work to build capacity and sustainability of landlord program to address affordable housing in Belmont Cragin and keep tenants in their apartments.
