Strong City/PBCP: Outreach & Recruitment VISTA
 
 
 
This position is sponsored by Strong City Baltimore in Baltimore, MD; and the VISTA member will serve with The Pro Bono Counseling Project in Towson, MD. Strong City sponsors 20 VISTA projects at nonprofit, government, and community organizations throughout Baltimore City and Maryland. Established in 1969 to help neighborhoods become safer, better places to live, Strong City's mission is to build and strengthen neighborhoods and people. Strong City will provide support to The Pro Bono Counseling Project and the VISTA member throughout the year, including recruitment, training, resources, and professional development opportunities, and meetings. The Pro Bono Counseling Project (PBCP) is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation founded with the goal of connecting uninsured and under-insured low-income Marylanders with compassionate and qualified mental health professionals who provide care on a volunteer basis at no cost. Since its founding, PBCP has helped over 30,000 individuals and families throughout Maryland connect with volunteer counselors and obtain the mental health care they could not otherwise afford. Presently, PBCP has over 700 volunteer clinicians all over the state of Maryland who give over 9,000 hours of their time each year.

Member Duties : The goal of this project is to develop and implement an outreach framework for the Pro Bono Counseling Project. This will increase access to mental health care by increasing the number of potential clients who know about the availability of services as well as building the capacity of the Pro Bono Counseling Project to serve those clients through adding more volunteer mental health providers to our network. The VISTA will: 1) Develop and implement a comprehensive client outreach plan 2) Develop and implement clinician recruitment and retention plan 3) Test the plans by conducting outreach activities and evaluating efficacy 4) Increase funding through business sponsorships by researching best practices in sponsor development and researching grant opportunities
