NYC VISTA - Corporate Mentoring Program VISTA

NYC Service leverages public-private partnerships as a way to drive its mission and vision by tapping into the time, talent, and skills of corporate volunteers to create local change and build nonprofit capacity. In 2017, NYC Service launched the Good for Me. Good for My City. campaign, which engaged 20 companies in mobilizing over 5,000 private sector professionals as volunteers to underserved public high school students in support of the City’s Equity and Excellence Agenda, which aims to increase high school graduation rates and ensure that at least two-thirds of graduating seniors are college and career ready. In January of 2018, the Campaign continued with 34 new and returning corporate partners and a new goal for the year: over 7,000 mentors to high school students! As a way to support our campaign partners, we developed and launched NYC STEP (Success through Engaging Professionals), which pairs companies with underserved high school students for a year-long career mentoring program. By December of 2018, the program will have engaged 135 volunteers from five companies and 135 high school students. Furthermore, NYC Service enjoys a larger and growing network of 200+ businesses of all sizes who have demonstrated a commitment to community service and corporate volunteer engagement. NYC Service identifies, scopes, and connects volunteer projects to interested businesses as a way to strengthen the capacities of nonprofit partners, and help New York City meet the needs of all of its residents, especially its most vulnerable. This position is ideal for candidates who want to develop project management skills, learn more about the social impact and corporate social responsibility space, and impact youth development across New York City.
