SOTS - Hopi Tutskwa - Summer Associates, Kykotsmovi, AZ

We seek to facilitate and train change agents and community leaders to solve persistent bio-cultural issues in their communities by creating and implementing land-based solutions that generate measurable ecological regeneration, foster greater human rights, and grow improved personal and community well-being. By re-localizing and re-establishing community food systems and re-creating local food economies we are strengthening our community’s resilience to disruptions in transportation, economic recession, changes in climate and natural weather patterns (which we are experiencing right now); and increasing access to healthy, nutritious, and spiritual food. Program support from AmeriCorps Summer Associates will allow our organization to strengthen our community capacity and to create community resilience to adapt to changing conditions over time by developing social and physical infrastructure that can withstand these external factors. We believe that every community has the knowledge, the ability, and the right to craft an ecologically regenerative, economically viable, and socially just future for themselves.
