Community Action Network Summer Associate 2018 Opportunity
 
 
 
Summer Associates, along with CAN directors, operate 6-week Educational Summer Camps for students entering into the 1st-4th grades, which include: - Math, reading, and mapping/social studies rotations in the mornings. - Exploring an awesome project-based, thematic curriculum in the afternoons. This summer's curriculum is about past, current, and future technology in Ready. Set. Tech! - Intentional role modeling of executive function skills, adding tools to students' social-emotional toolbox, and providing filling meals during the day. - Time to play and build meaningful relationships with their peers and positive adult role models.

Member Duties : The primary activities CAN SAs will perform are: • Assist in preparation and serving of lunch and dinners • Assist in Summer Loss of Learning Prevention morning academic rotations.– these consist of 30-40 min. each reading/writing, math & measurement, and geography & map reading. • Teach science & engineering related lessons through hands-on activities. CAN’s 2018 Summer Camp theme is Ready. Set. Tech! Ready. Set. Tech! is a curriculum designed to develop digital citizens through an inquiry-based STEM educational summer program • Assist in the overall operation of CAN’s summer programs. • Conduct student pre-post tests and evaluations. • Write letters to students’ teachers, outlining what students learned over the summer. • Write a reflective essay at the end of their tenure.
