2018 Architreasures Summer Program Associate
Archi-treasures is an arts-based community development organization that creates grassroots partnerships to improve Chicago neighborhoods through the arts and cultural placemaking. Archi-treasures works with affordable housing sites and community groups to develop public art and space improvement projects, and offer on-site arts and cultural programming for neighborhood residents. The goals of the project are to support archi-treasures instructors and artists with 1) the coordination and implementation of summer arts activities for youth at the Barbara Jean Wright Courts and Germano Milgate apartments; 2) the coordination of community activities related to the production of the Major Taylor Trail mural in West Pullman, and 3) documentation of summer programs. archi-treasures seeks candidates interested in and / or experienced with planning and implementation of youth arts programming and public mural projects. The ideal candidates are highly energetic, creative youth mentors, able to assist daily arts workshop activities with youth. The Program Associates are enthusiastic about teaching and engaging young people in hands-on arts and design projects and able to work within community and affordable housing contexts. The candidates should have an excellent rapport with middle school and high school aged youth, possess great verbal and written communication skills, and be adept at organizing engaging arts experiences. Ideally, the candidate will also have familiarity leading arts programs or public art projects, and knowledge of the neighborhoods in which archi-treasures’ summer youth programs take place.

Member Duties : Assist workshop art instructors in implementation of summer youth program activities. Assist with coordination of opportunities for neighborhood youth to participate in the production of the Major Taylor Trail mural. Assist with re-organization and curation of historical program information, and the documentation of current summer programs.
