2018-2019 SOAR Program Coordinator VISTA

All Chicago Making Homelessness History (All Chicago) prevents and ends homelessness through four signature approaches: Emergency Financial Assistance, Community Partnerships, Data Analytics, and Training & Research. SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) is an evidence-based method of increasing access to SSI/SSDI for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness, thus also increasing access to housing, treatment options, employment, and recovery. In 2017, All Chicago convened the SOAR Steering Committee to oversee an initiative to develop SOAR. The VISTA SOAR Program Coordinator VISTA will coordinate capacity-building activities with the Steering Committee to establish SOAR infrastructures, thus allowing vulnerable individuals to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual who thrives in a team-focused, collaborative environment. The candidate should be strong in public speaking and relationship-building, as much of the work will involve facilitating meetings and trainings involving diverse groups of stakeholders. The candidate should be interested in best practices, research, and data analysis, and should understand the importance of data-informed decision making. Interest in coordinating change on a system level is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be solution-focused and re-frames challenges as opportunities. Knowledge of SOAR or SSI/SSDI will be helpful but not required. As this work is very foundational, we are looking for someone who is excited about innovative, creative solutions to system-wide issues. Skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, will be important.
