NYC VISTA - ThriveNYC Community Engagement VISTA Member

The Thrive Engagement team works to facilitate conversations with community partners to overcome the stigma associated with mental illness and substance misuse and increase awareness of City resources available through Thrive NYC, the City’s roadmap to address these concerns. With the increased and ongoing concern surrounding substance misuse, specifically deaths caused by overdose related to opioids, the Thrive Engagement team seeks to engage community members and community based organizations in active roles to extend the reach in awareness naloxone services and community trainings to arm community members with their own naloxone kits. As an NYC VISTA member, you will build capacity by increasing both community and internal efforts to reach low-income communities in need of services most. Your will provide critical support to the agency by creating a community volunteer model which will increase not only awareness, but activate community leaders in expanding their reach, message, and actions to include opioid overdose prevention.
