M:STL-Justine PETERSEN Summer Associate VISTA

The mission of Justine PETERSEN is to connect institutional resources with the needs of low- to moderate-income families and individuals in order to build assets and create enduring change. We have three core programs: 1) Credit Building and Financial Education. A strong credit profile can have life-changing results, including more opportunities to borrow money on affordable terms with lower interest rates and fewer penalties. Like a coach, JP counselors guide individuals and families on how to take control of their financial future, regardless of income or credit history. All clients meet individually with a counselor. Financial education classes are offered to supplement client progress on their individual credit action plan. 2) Homeownership Preparation and Retention. As a HUD-Certified Housing Counseling Agency, Justine PETERSEN provides individual pre-purchase counseling, homebuyer education and foreclosure prevention counseling. 3) Micro-Enterprise Technical Assistance and Lending. As a SBA Micro-Loan Intermediary Lender, Justine PETERSEN assists small businesses to access affordable financing for business capitalization.

Member Duties : The Summer Associate VISTA will work with oneon-one counseling to a diverse group of entrepreneurs from various backgrounds including start-ups and established businesses. The Summer Associate VISTA will support each business applicant in completing a loan application in Justine PETERSEN’s system and also assist entrepreneurs in gathering all required documents.
