Austin Public Health Blackland Neighborhood Summer Associate
 
 
 
Blackland Neighborhood Center (BNC) is part of the Neighborhood Services Unit within the City of Austin's Public Health Department that provides a daily, non-means tested food distribution. They also have a separate food pantry that provides emergency food, by appointment, to anyone, once every 90 days. Additionally, they provide basic needs services and referrals for clothing, healthcare, SNAP, social security, jobs, rental assistance, and transportation.

Member Duties : Summer associates will serve for 10 weeks and focus on healthy futures by supporting the annual Pre-Juneteenth Health and Wellness Fair. This is a large undertaking that requires concerted preparation, coordination with community partners, recruiting and scheduling volunteers and participating actively in the event as support for set up through clean up. On a daily basis, assisting with set up, client interaction and clean up for daily food distribution in collaboration with food recovery with Wheatsville and Sprouts. Supporting one onsite and two offsite food distributions, monthly, in collaboration with the Central Texas Food Bank.
