MACV Justice Collaborative Coordinator VISTA (EMERGE)

Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans is on a mission to end veteran homelessness in Minnesota, and needs your help to accomplish our goals! As we move closer to ending veteran homelessness it has become apparent that innovative and creative approaches are going to be needed finish the fight. The organization is investing in deploying new ideas to serve high barrier veterans in our communities and is seeking a VISTA to aid in development of new programming for justice involved veterans. The Justice Collaborative aims to establish a network of support to facilitate early intervention for veterans who will be re-entering the community from incarceration by establishing contacts, systems and processes to streamline the referral process between the Department of Corrections Institutions and MACV. Currently, veterans make up 10% of the Minnesota adult population, but 18-20% of the Minnesota adult prison population. To promote economic stability and decrease recidivism for veterans leaving the justice system, the VISTA will use a community organization and education approaches to create linkages of housing and employment options for veterans re-entering the community from incarceration. Since 1990 Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) has been aiding veterans throughout Minnesota. These veterans, along with their families, are served comprehensively through MACV’s core programs of Housing, Employment and Legal services. More than 25,000 veterans contact MACV each year. MACV empowers our clients by providing supports to once again become a productive member of the community, confidence to rebuild relationships and knowledge that the community recognizes and cares about them and their services to our country. Service site is Metro Office (Lake Street), Minneapolis. Learn more: https://www.mac-v.org/
