The mission of the Andy Roddick Foundation is "to work with our community to expand opportunities for young people to learn, thrive and succeed." Through high-quality afterschool activities developed in cooperation with the Austin Independent School District, as well as an acclaimed six-week summer program, investing in innovative summer activities, and other joint initiatives with key groups throughout the city, we are creating new chances for all kids to grow in literacy, STEM, art, and sports — all during months and times of day when statistics show they’re typically most at risk and falling behind. The Foundation is in the midst of a growth and expansion plan with the desire to partner with more schools and increase investments in out-­of-school time efforts.

Member Duties : The VISTA Summer Associates will serve for 10 weeks with ARF’s six-week summer learning program to address the focus of education and summer learning loss. Enrolling over 250 students across two sites, the summer learning program engages elementary students in hands-on learning in STEM, literacy, arts, community service, physical activity, and more. The program is completely free to children and their families and operates a full-day, from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday. The VISTA Summer Associates will facilitate students learning by supporting instructors in providing the lesson plans and engaging with students to ensure they have the support they need and that they are having fun. Participate in all activities, including weekly field trips, to develop strong mentoring relationships with students.
