MediCorps - Summer - RSVP Summer Projects Coordinator (6)

COAD's mission is to provide a unified voice and representation for the Community Action Agencies of Appalachian Ohio and the constituents that they serve - primarily low-income families, children, and the seniors, and to improve the quality of life for all residents of Appalachian Ohio. The mission of RSVP is to provide high quality volunteer management which engages seniors ages 55+ both in service to area non-profits and in the direct management of programs which ensure healthy futures of those we serve. The major programs that COAD/RSVP supports focus on the area of Healthy Futures, particular Health, Nutrition, and Education. Our primary focus area for this project will address hunger and food insecurity in the Southeastern Ohio areas of Jackson, Gallia, Pike, Ross, and Scioto Counties. We are the sponsor of Summer Food Service programs for the Ohio Department of Education, the Summer Rural Innovative Feeding program for the Ohio Association of Foodbanks and the Governor's Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, the School-year Weekend Food backpack programs ffor three school districts as well as for the schools serving developmentally delayed children in Jackson and Pike Counties. We are a recipient of the Ohio Community Connectors program in three southeastern Ohio counties, which is a broad based youth development program through the Ohio Department of Education and the Governor's Office which brings low-income, at-risk youth together with adult volunteers to focus on healthy futures.
