Cornerstone- Day Resource Center for the Homeless (CAN)
 
 
 
The Day Resource Center is a daytime shelter that provides assistance to nearly 500 homeless persons daily in Fort Worth. Besides providing basic respite services such as laundry, storage for personal belongings, showers, and a mailing address, we provide intensive case management and clinical programming within our facility. These programs include a job readiness and placement program, literacy education, life skills classes, therapeutic processing groups, art therapy, on-site mental health evaluations and drug assessments. Our mission also centers on building community and trust with our clients, so we conduct monthly social events like our evening coffeehouse and super bowl party. All services are available to any homeless person in Fort Worth and there is no charge for any of our services. The Day Resource Center for the Homeless is seeking a VISTA that will coordinate and expand volunteer opportunities as well as promote the mission of the agency through social media awareness and participation in community events. The VISTA member will also assist in the development of new volunteer mentoring program with the overall goal of increasing housing retention and support for formerly homeless persons. Through networking with the local faith-based community and other area organizations, this position will leverage additional resources to enable the Day Resource Center to expand services to the homeless population. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with good writing and public speaking skills and who desires to be part of fun and innovative team. Our agency is located at 1415 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76102. It's close to unique shops, restaurants, music venues, art museums, bike trails, and the historic stockyards. It's also in one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, so there will be plenty of events and activities to keep you busy on your free time. Pay rate is $946 monthly BEFORE taxes.

Member Duties : The VISTA will gain experience in fundraising and volunteer management, working closely with the Communications and Development Director to strengthen fundraising programs and sustain volunteerism at the Day Resource Center. Assignments will include volunteer recruitment to support implementation of donor cultivation strategies; on-going recruitment of volunteers working in day shelter services; training and use of DonorPro donor relationship management solutions to inform fundraising programs, track in-kind donations and log volunteer hours; research of new grant-seeking opportunities as directed; and primary responsibility for strengthening in-kind giving through a donation campaign.
