MediCorps - Summer - Community Liason

As a vital part of Greater Cleveland’s healthcare safety net, North Coast Health (NCH) provides integrated primary and behavioral health care to the uninsured, and those struggling to afford high deductible insurance plans, or plans that do not cover their health care needs (the underinsured). NCH is located in Lakewood, Ohio- a vibrant, energetic and culturally diverse community. NCH has identified an opportunity to increase awareness of the medical services we provide by engaging the local business community. Occupations such as waiter/waitress, food prep workers, janitors, retail clerks, and nursing assistants usually do not earn enough to afford health insurance, or are hired part-time without health insurance benefits. North Coast Health makes it possible for everyone to have access to affordable, quality medical care. Our patient-centered, coordinated health care includes: primary care; prevention and wellness education; chronic disease management; behavioral healthcare; patient critical needs assistance (such as transportation, interpretation services, medical supplies, medications, groceries, etc.); women’s healthcare; immunizations; laboratory services; prescription assistance; supportive services- including specialty referrals and assistance in enrolling in benefit programs and Medicaid. Outreach to the business community provides opportunity to connect business owners and their employees with the health care they need and deserve- improving the health of the individual, the workforce and the community.
