Galveston Cty Disaster Marketing & PR VISTA, OneStar

Galveston County Long Term Recovery Group (GCLTRG) is the official long-term recovery group of Galveston County made up of representatives from non-profit. faith-based, and civic organizations and government and business partners working in our county. Its purpose is to facilitate and implement a coordinated response to Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery. The group was formed in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Located east of Houston, Galveston sits on the Gulf of Mexico. In Galveston County there were over 45,000 affected families and over 18,000 affected homes making up about 30-35% of the community impacted by the storms. Hurricane Harvey recovery will last for several years to come. In addition, research shows that natural disasters disproportionality impact poor and marginalized communities and that those living in poverty struggle the most to recover. Our goal is to create a sustainable organization that can provide recovery assistance to all individuals, families and communities more effectively and efficiently and allow for added resources to be granted to Hurricane Harvey survivors until the recovery is completed. GCLTRG is searching for a motivated individual to help develop outreach and communications strategies to build awareness about best practices and resources pertaining to preparedness and the resiliency of Texas communities.
