Recovery Employment Coordinator

Ohio Citizen Advocates for Addiction Recovery is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating social change in Ohio and advocating for those in recovery from a substance use disorder. As the only peer run advocacy organization in the state of Ohio, our staff, Board, and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure the rights of individuals in recovery. Over the course of 1 year, you will be working closely with the Executive Director to develop a training curriculum for employers on why it is beneficial to hire those in recovery from a substance use disorder. This project will consist of a research period to understand the current landscape in a small part of Ohio as well as a coalition building opportunity to work with those in similar fields. Once the research is complete, the Recovery Employment Coordinator in conjunction with the coalition will begin work on the curriculum for employers. This part of the project will be working with current employers and people in recovery to develop a presentation for potential employers to attend to understand all the benefits of hiring someone in recovery. The next training curriculum will be to work with people in recovery to develop a curriculum an employer can go through to better understand the disease of addiction and how employers can be a major support system for employees with this disease. The final part of this project will be to begin scheduling trainings for potential employers to receive either part of the trainings. Another necessary part of this project will be to complete a policy and procedures manual for anyone wanting to provide this training to others across the state.
