EMERGE VISTA Leader
 
 
 
EMERGE is a workforce development organization with Service Centers in North Minneapolis and Cedar Riverside and Social Enterprise businesses in NE and SE Minneapolis and St. Paul Midway. Our Service Centers are located in neighborhoods that have struggled with some of the metro area’s highest rates of unemployment and most concentrated poverty. EMERGE helps people facing significant obstacles redefine themselves. We offer adult and youth workforce services, combined with a range of other services, along a continuum from basic job search coaching up to long-term intensive career training, tailored to the specific needs of the participant. EMERGE VISTA program began in August 2011 as an AmeriCorps VISTA sponsoring organization. Since 2011, we have supported approximately 73 members at 22 different host sites. Our members have contributed to the anti-poverty work in a number of ways and have served more than 5,000 low-income individuals with 65% of whom had a criminal background. Our members build capacity in the areas of Employment and Educational Services, Financial Services and Education, and Housing Services and Education. Since 2015, EMERGE VISTA members have recruited and managed over 263 volunteers that served over 1500 hours supporting their host sites/participants efforts towards employment, training, and housing. 517 individuals received financial literacy; 1,353 individuals were placed into jobs, and 649 individuals received housing services because of the efforts of the VISTA members. We are seeking a VISTA Leader to join the EMERGE VISTA cohort which is comprised of 11 VISTA members at diverse host sites in Minneapolis, St. Paul and greater Minnesota working to build capacity in the re-entry community. The VISTA Leader serves alongside the VISTA Program Manager to contribute to the success of the program.

Member Duties : Do you have a desire to grow as a leader? Being a VISTA Leader is a great way to gain management experience while networking in the community. You will gain skills in public speaking, mentoring, and training (including creating curricula). You will network with a wide-array of Minnesota nonprofits while supporting VISTA members at various levels in their careers. You will plan and implement training days, conduct site visits, provide support to VISTA members, ensuring that members have the support, training, and tools needed to complete their term of service and reach their personal and professional goals, and much more.
