Addressing Crawford-Marion's Opioid Epidemic
 
 
 
The Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health (ADAMH) Services Board of Crawford and Marion Counties oversees and subsidizes mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment services for local citizens, based on need and eligibility. The benefits provided by ADAMH are available to Crawford and Marion residents through a network of providers. ADAMH and its agencies work together in many ways to ensure quality services are available for people in need. The mission of the Crawford-Marion ADAMH Board is to provide comprehensive, quality, cost-effective mental health and substance abuse treatment and prevention services to the citizens of Crawford and Marion counties. Our ADAMH Board is seeking a VISTA partner to assist with the data collection of existing programming, grant writing, opioid research, community planning, and help develop and implement Peer Recovery Supporters in our communities. The Crawford-Marion ADAMH Board’s goal is to identify community needs for substance abuse and mental health concerns, enhance existing programming, and implement new strategies for combatting the opioid epidemic.

Member Duties : Our VISTA position will assist the Director and Associate Director of the Crawford-Marion ADAMH board to research and write educational materials and papers related to opioid addiction. Informational material will include digital and social media to distribute researched information to agency partners and the public. VISTA assignment includes research and grant writing to determine how community proposals will be developed. VISTA member will develop and implement a comprehensive plan to recruit, engage, and train individuals in recovery to become certified Peer Recovery Supporters. They will assist with the implementation of mental health Peer Supporters at local partner agencies. VISTA assignment will also include the development of the ADAMH Board’s Community Plan and data collection of projects previously established.
