The Wisconsin HealthCorps is seeking AmeriCorps Members for the 2018-2019 program year. Members serving with the Wisconsin HealthCorps can chose to be placed in a Community Health Center, Public Health Department, or health focused non-profit. Members perform a variety of roles and duties at each of these host sites, allowing Members to find the health care experience that best fits their professional development goals. Our Program, and Member's ultimate goal is to improve the health of Wisconsin's communities by increasing knowledge of healthy behaviors, and providing some of Wisconsin's most vulnerable residents with the means to access health care. During their year of service Members will be providing information to individuals on access to care (AmeriCorps members do not provide health services related to prohibited items), health insurance options, benefit programs, and health center/ host site services, perform patient call-backs, prepare materials for both individual patients and communities, and teach healthy lifestyle courses to community members- covering a variety of topics such as: healthy eating habits, chronic disease maintenance, and public health concepts. Members are provided training from both the Program and the individual host sites. There are leadership opportunities at both the Program level and host site level. Members are eligible for the following benefits: living allowance, insurance coverage (health, dental and vision), child care assistance, education award, loan forgiveness, and membership in the Wisconsin Public Health Association.* *Benefits are contingent on a Member's eligibility and successful completion of 1700 hours of service over the course of 12 months.
