Wisconsin HealthCorps

Members serving with the Wisconsin HealthCorps can chose to be placed in a Community Health Center, Public Health Department, or health focused non-profit. Members perform a variety of roles and duties at each of these host sites, allowing Members to find the health care experience that best fits their professional development goals. Our Program's ultimate goal is to improve the health of Wisconsin's communities by increasing knowledge of healthy behaviors and providing Wisconsin's most vulnerable residents with the means to access health care. During their year of service, Members will provide information to individuals on access to care (AmeriCorps members do not provide health services related to prohibited activities), health insurance options, benefit programs, and health center/ host site services; perform patient call-backs; prepare materials for both individual patients and communities; and teach healthy lifestyle courses to community members covering a variety of topics such as: chronic disease management, fitness, and public health concepts. Members are provided training from both the Program and the individual host sites. There are leadership opportunities at both the Program and host site level. Members are eligible for the following benefits: living allowance, insurance coverage (health, dental, and vision), child care assistance, Segal Education Award, loan forgiveness, and membership in the Wisconsin Public Health Association.* *Benefits are contingent on a Member's eligibility and successful completion of service hours. Our host sites and current position descriptions for the 2021-22 program year can be found on our website: https://wihealthcorps.wordpress.com
