Logan/Champaign Opiate Task Force VISTA

The MHDAS Board of Logan & Champaign Counties in Ohio is charged to plan, fund and evaluate mental health and addiction services in each community. As a part of this work, MHDAS help lead both the Champaign County Opiate Task Force and the Logan County CORE (Coalition for Opiate Relief Efforts). One issue in both communities is the need to constantly be putting information in all media outlets possible as a way to educate the community about the dangers of substances, risk factors for addiction, the disease of addiction, services available and recovery supports. Messaging suitable for different age and sophistication levels is important. The VISTA position can focus on developing a collection of messages to be used on website, Facebook, Twitter, radio and newspaper would greatly enhance outreach. Especially in Logan County a recruitment plan for youth to become involved in a Youth led capacity as part of the coalition will be a priority. Both Coalitions need to expand capacity in data collection, organization and reporting.
