MTCC - Montana Natural History Center - Summer Associate

The mission of the Montana Natural History Center is to promote and cultivate the appreciation, understanding, and stewardship of nature through education. They offer over 25 different programs for schools, youth, and community members to help connect people with nature and encourage lifelong learning and stewardship. The summer camp program currently serves approximately 375 campers, ages 3-11 per year. The Summer Associate will provide support and assistance for Montana Natural History Center’s Summer Outdoor Discovery Day Camps program, in order to increase and improve our capacity to improve school readiness and move children and families in the Missoula area out of poverty. They will primarily work within our preschool-kindergarten summer camps, assisting camp instructors, leading and potentially developing lessons, and serving as a role model and mentor for our early learners. The associate will also develop and implement a pre- and post- camp evaluation to assess MNHC camp impacts on early learning goals and school readiness. They will help create high-quality, impactful summer programming and a setting with low child to adult ratios, both of which have been shown to increase student interest in learning and reduce summer learning loss.
