The Summer Associate will help implement the Summer Reading Program with library staff. Programs and events, such as a petting zoo, a magician, outdoor day, teen reading groups, story times and mystery night, are regularly held throughout the SRP to keep youth and families engaged in the program and the library.

Member Duties : The Summer Associate will help with program delivery in the Children’s Room. These activities are for children from birth through high school and having an extra set of eyes and hands for activities, such as group reading and arts and crafts, helps library staff with successful program delivery. Additionally, the library is increasing its focus on teen programming opportunities in order to prevent summer learning loss and keeping teens and adults experiencing poverty active and engaged in the community. The SA will serve as in-classroom assistance for these programs, such as Girls Who Code.
