* MTCC - Montana Joining Community Forces

According to data from Military OneSource and the Veterans Health Administration, VA Montana Health Care System, Montana has one of the highest per capita Veteran populations in the U.S.; about 1 in 10 residents are veterans. Veterans are disproportionately homeless: one in 7 homeless adults are Veterans. Additionally, poverty, disabilities, chronic physical pain, mental health issues, substance abuse, and lack of access to adequate healthcare contribute to high suicide rates among Veterans. The mission of Montana Joining Community Forces (JCF is to serve Montana communities by identifying, centralizing, expanding, and maximizing the resources available to Veterans, service members and their families in an effort to foster personal and family growth and build sustainable and relevant relationships between the military community and the community at large. The VISTA position is based out of Carroll College in Helena, Montana and will assess current educational and community resources and services, develop a strategic plan, and increase outreach to service members, veterans, and their families.
