Connecting Resources for a Strong Community - UWSEM

The United Way for Southeast Michigan serving Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our region. We strive to provide a world-class experience for individuals to get involved in and support causes they care about in ways that are engaging, meaningful and transformative. We empower individuals to take action, invite others to join the fight, and scale their impact. Forty percent of Michigan households struggle to afford food, housing, transportation, housing childcare, and healthcare – VISTA members are needed to connect that 40% with needed resources available in the community. Members will be the boots-on-the-ground introducing a powerful new community solution for struggling families to gain financial stability. United Way is partnering with the State of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to integrate community resources with public benefits and make them accessible in a powerful online system, MI Bridges. VISTA members bring this innovation to nonprofit partners serving low-income people. They build capacity for utilization of MI Bridges to provide resources for strong households and a strong community. As Engagement and Outreach Specialist, you will connect financially struggling communities with much-needed resources.
