Strategy & Communications Specialist VISTA-Rêve Academy-C3TC

Rêve Academy's mission is to help kids dream with direction through pathways to digital careers. Our programs are focused on preparing underserved students for successful careers in business, technology, & design. Our philosophy is founded on the belief that kids can lead us into the future. Programs are offered throughout the year to give students ongoing opportunities to deepen their skills & prepare for successful careers. How? In the classroom (Sp, Su, Fa): The EDU program engages students in the classroom by coaching teachers to use our methodology & coursework (which focuses on business, technology, & design skills). In the past, we’ve worked with 1,000 students per year, but in 2017 we served 2,200 students across the Twin Cities region. We expect that number to grow in 2018. Outside of the classroom (Sp, Su, Fa): We invite students who want to refine their skills to become paid interns with Student-Run Businesses. Interns work in a professional environment, build relevant digital skills by working on real projects, & learn how to think and act like leaders. We’re on track to hire 50+ interns in 2018. The hands-on, self-directed work of Student-Run Businesses isn’t easy, but it promotes incredible growth. When students demonstrate that growth, we invite them to become senior interns. New in 2018: Our Endeavors program is focused on developing youth entrepreneurship. It will be piloted this year alongside Student-Run Businesses. As a VISTA member, you'll have the opportunity to shape it! **This position is part of the C3 Twin Cities VISTA Program. C3 Twin Cities offers a unique cohort experience rooted in a social justice framework. It also offers $200 of monthly housing support, monthly $100 grocery card, phone plan, transportation support and professional development opportunities ($1,400 at your discretion). Check out www.c3twincities.org for more details, including financial incentives.
