Volunteer and National Service Program VISTA - MAVA

Are you passionate about volunteerism? Do you have creative and analytical skills that you’d like to use to help recruit volunteers and VISTA members to help organizations better serve communities in need? As MAVA’s Volunteer Engagement and National Service Program VISTA member, you will work closely with MAVA’s volunteer supervisors, and our VISTA cohort, to further develop volunteer engagement strategies and create processes to recognize and retain volunteers. Minnesota Alliance for Volunteer Advancement (MAVA) is a nonprofit association for people who lead volunteers in Minnesota. We connect, educate, strengthen and advocate for volunteer engagement leaders and their organizations to positively impact communities. MAVA is an intermediary VISTA program that recruits host sites and VISTA members year-round. With host sites across the state, our VISTA program helps organizations develop, expand, or improve volunteer programming that connects Minnesotans to the resources they need to move out of poverty. Our host sites have projects that focus on their communities’ needs in the areas of: child and youth development, food security, sexual health, housing security, school readiness, and financial security. As the Volunteer Engagement and National Service Program VISTA member, you will receive your certification in volunteer leadership, learn about the evolving field of volunteer engagement, network with local and national leaders in the field, and contribute your creativity to a small, fun nonprofit. You will work closely with MAVA's 10 person staff as a vital team member in our small non-profit team helping us expand our capacity (and the capacity of our host organizations) while working to eliminate poverty. In exchange for your service, you will receive $15,002/year, choice of an education award or $1,800 end of service stipend, professional development stipend, assistance with finding housing, and a rent/phone stipend. Position will remain open until filled.
