United Way of NW Michigan June 2018 TBAISD *
 
 
 
VISTA’s will provide capacity building, sustainability, and programmatic support to host sites located with Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District or United Way of NW Michigan. These positions are located in the beautiful Grand Traverse Region. United Way of Northwest Michigan AmeriCorps VISTA Project Members will be working to build capacity within their host sites. United Way NWMI is an intermediary, VISTAs may be assigned to various host sites within the five-county region. (Antrim, Benzie, Kalkaska, Grand Traverse or Leelanau) VISTAs will work with host sites with an emphasis on creating systems, processes or programs that benefit populations living in poverty. This includes, but is not limited to: program development, grant writing, volunteer recruitment and training, and marketing. Previous experience is preferred but not required in any of these areas. Opportunities to expand one's own understanding in these areas will be provided. VISTAs will also have opportunities to connect and network with other VISTAs and community partners within the region to further their own professional interest. Member Duties : Create processes and documentation to build a vibrant farm to school program reaching underserved students and students eligible for free or reduced lunch programs. Locally sourced, Healthy food access and healthy food choices are the priorities.
