KATB Summer Associate

Kids at their Best is searching for 4 individuals to serve in Fort Morgan in the 10-Week summer associate program. The KATB Summer Associates will help to combat childhood hunger and out of school time learning loss. The Hamilton Project, 2006, summarizes the disproportionate loss of learning for lower income children. This learning loss is attributed to many factors including; lack of summer time learning opportunities for low income children, lack of parental involvement due to parents working, lack of accessible book sources and lack of available enrichment opportunities within poverty stricken neighborhoods, Kids At Their Best (KATB) summer enrichment programs combat those challenges. All programs are held within high poverty, low income neighborhoods where children would traditionally not have access to summer enrichment activities. Children residing in these targeted neighborhoods rely heavily on their schools free and reduced lunch programs, these programs either move locations or are unavailable during the summer months. For this reason, each location will provide a nutritious breakfast and a nutritious lunch option for students. Programs will be provided four hours per day, five days per week for six to eight weeks depending on location. KATB plans to have five unique site locations in areas with a Free and Reduced Lunch Program Rate of at least 50%.
