College Health Corps, South Central College

South Central College provides higher education to thousands of students, primarily based in South Central Minnesota. Our enrollment includes 47% students who are considered Pell-Eligible (low-income students). Our employees strive to provide exceptional support for low-income students, and we see a great opportunity to do even more through increased coordination and partnership. With support of the counseling center, financial aid, the student affairs area, and the Southern Minnesota Center for Agriculture, the VISTA will create partnerships that connect low-income students to campus and community resources, such as food, healthcare, and mental health services that help them complete college and achieve economic stability. The South Central College VISTA will need to be a strong communicator and leader who will help us build our resource and support center for low-income students as well as organize new student wellness initiatives. Working in collaboration with South Central College departments, the VISTA will have a large impact on health and wellness support at the college and surrounding community. ---This project is part of the College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA Program, operated by Minnesota Campus Compact. The CHC increases low-income individuals’ access to health care, health education, food, and basic needs through capacity building projects, including partnerships between higher education and community based organizations. Professional development focuses on health equity, the social determinants of health, and effective partnership development. --- ***Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
