The Oaks Academy seeks candidates that are mission-driven, self-motivated, idea-inspired, and social justice oriented. Ideal applicants are seeking significant responsibility within a quality learning experience alongside fundraising and marketing professionals. The Oaks Academy currently serves 815 Pre-Kindergarten through 8th-grade students at three school locations in Indianapolis urban neighborhoods. Students benefit from a Christ-centered, classical education: humanities-based, interdisciplinary curriculum filled with Latin lessons, nature walks, and recitations. The Oaks Academy was founded to serve children of diverse backgrounds. Approximately 50% of students’ families are low income, 25% are middle income, and 25% are high income with about 40% who are White, 40% who are Black, and 14% who are Asian, Latino or Multiracial. The Oaks Academy distributes scholarships to over 75% of enrolled families, which equates to over $3 million in need-based scholarships. The ultimate purpose of the VISTA program at The Oaks Academy is to effectively serve families in poverty: through the admittance of low-income students and the raising of funds for their need-based scholarships. Previous Oaks Academy VISTAs have gone on to their careers of choice in communications, fundraising and research due to their robust experiences at The Oaks.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will work alongside The Oaks Academy’s Advancement Services Manager to optimize the collecting, processing, and application of the school’s deep repository of donor and constituent information. By improving The Oaks' ability to effectively use this data, the VISTA member will help build and maintain meaningful relationships with supporters—an activity essential to the school’s mission. This work will ensure that the philanthropic goals and needs of supporters are honored and that key organizational processes are optimized, ultimately to the benefit of the school's more than 800 students during its 20th anniversary year. The development of the database will position the school to better interact with its community and to retain information about donors who will be key to the school's growth and sustainability.
