Brand and Communications Innovator
 
 
 
This VISTA will work with our top tier Advancement team to tell The Oaks story in dynamic and innovative ways that attract new students, families, supporters, and national media attention. You will partner closely with our Director of Marketing—a founder of Indianapolis design agency Studio Science, and 15+ year veteran of startup and enterprise brand consulting—to reimagine and refine the way we capture, express, and deliver Oaks stories through digital channels like social media, video, web content, print materials, and more. The Oaks Academy, and this VISTA position, sit at the intersection of many interesting and important areas, including; technology, education, non-profit fundraising, community development, and marketing. We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, creative, and courageous in their willingness to share ideas and become a true member of the team. This position provides a balance between collaborative teamwork, and many opportunities to work independently, pursuing your own ideas and initiatives. If you are passionate about using your skills and interests to make positive change in Indianapolis, and being able to see the evidence in the smiles of students, faculty, and families every day, this is the position for you! Ongoing mentoring will be provided by our experienced Advancement team, with particular attention from our VISTA coordinator and the Director of Marketing. The Advancement Team, and The Oaks Academy, in general, is connected to many Indianapolis and national businesses, organizations, individuals, and networks that will serve the VISTA well at the completion of their service and the next step in the professional development. The Oaks has three campuses, each in beautiful downtown Indianapolis neighborhoods. You will be close to the Monon trail, multiple city parks, and all the amenities of exciting downtown Indianapolis.

Member Duties : This VISTA will build capacity to capture and share the unique stories of Oaks Academy students, families, donors, and community members. During their service, this VISTA will: - Spend meaningful time with teachers, students, and donors to gain a deep understanding of this unique school - Work closely with an experienced team of fundraisers and marketers - Capture and tell stories from our community through multiple mediums, such as web, print, social, video etc. - Create and manage digital and social media and advertising campaigns - Collaborate with our Data Analyst VISTA to understand the role of data in marketing and communications - Make recommendations on process, brand, and strategy improvements The VISTA will work closely with designers, videographers, photographers, writers, and web developers. We will also encourage our VISTA to explore any of these activities personally, as they are interested in developing new skills or refining existing ones.
